Thomas also joined the Board of Directors of the New Conservatory Theatre Center (NCTC), a well-known and respected leader in producing gay themed theatre. NCTC is also dedicated to the development, production and touring of social issue plays directed toward young people. These plays focus on vital subject matters including HIV/AIDS awareness, substance abuse, and body image. In May 2003 Thomas took great pleasure in awarding the first two scholarships from the Thomas A. Lister Scholarship Fund to two seniors from Procter R. Hug High School (Reno, NV), his alma mater. The scholarships, given annually, recognize achievements in the areas of scholastic and artistic endeavors, as well as community involvement through volunteerism. |
